#188 Trauma Informed Law with Galen Trine
In this captivating Trauma Healing Learning episode, we delve into the inspiring journey of Galen Trine, a personal injury and products liability attorney turned relational advocate who promotes trauma healing of his clients despite an adversarial legal system. He graduated with honors from the University of Wyoming College of Law and decided he didn't want to subscribe to “zero sum” lawyering. His legal prowess was evident early on as he achieved a remarkable victory before even graduating from law school and collaborated with the Wyoming Attorney General for legal change without adversarial litigation.
A recent milestone in his career was a landmark trial, where he fearlessly confronted a major insurance company in court with a creative compassionate illustration of his client's life, resulting in a verdict that exceeded the initial settlement offers by over 230 times. Join Louise in a fascinating conversation between two attorneys as they share what is possible to further trauma healing in an adversarial legal system. And hear why and how attorney Galen Trine made a significant shift in his legal practice toward mutualism and emotional equity to benefit the well being of the injured beyond the monetary settlement, and without litigation.

#185 - A Conversation with Lindsay Pinkelman
Lindsay Pinkelman, a mother of three, is the host of the MY SCHOOL COUNSELOR PODCAST and a dedicated mentor to young athletes seeking scholarships. Her lifelong passion for sports, which began with T-ball at age 5, led her to excel in softball during high school, earning her a spot on Greenway High School's Varsity team and a place with the Arizona Vipers.
However, her narrative takes a poignant turn in college when she pursued a Master's in School Counseling at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. This decision wasn't just about personal growth but also a deep-seated desire to be a guiding light for fellow athletes. Life, as it often does, had other plans, and Lindsay's story took an unexpected and profoundly emotional twist.
In our conversation, we will delve into that pivotal moment, exploring the depth of Lindsay's emotions, insights on marriage and faith, God winks, and her enduring commitment to supporting and championing athletes.

#183 - A Conversation with Jashar Banks
Our next guest, Jashar Banks, is an exceptional young man who has faced challenges not only finding creative ways to live with SCI, but also venturing into the world seeking his first paid job and showing employers creative workarounds for how those living with SCI can be valuable assets in a workplace that requires physical movement. Louise met Jashar at a beach event, where he experienced something new – not just surfing in the ocean as a paraplegic, but being at the ocean for the first time even though he grew up only miles from the coast. Come listen in on the start of a young person's journey of exploration and self-discovery as 21 year old Jashar talks about living on his own, seeking out positive mentors, and making peace with a difficult childhood growing up in the lower Bronx. His story, though not widely known online, is bound to inspire you. Despite life's multiple hurdles, Jashar is a shining example of turning adversity not just into strength but into tenderness for himself and others as he makes a positive impact in the world. Join Louise as we explore the beginnings of what is already a remarkable journey and Jashar's dedication to education and leaning into vulnerability and service.

#181 - A Conversation with WAGS of SCI
Elena Pauly and Brooke Pagé, both caregivers to partners with recent Spinal Cord Injuries, felt the deep isolation that comes with their role. Their connection on Instagram, fueled by their close proximity in Vancouver, became a lifeline. In November of that year, they birthed WAGS of SCI on Instagram, a community that not only hosted local caregiver events but also united "inter-abled" women - wives, partners, and girlfriends of those living with SCI. Together, they provide unwavering support for the unique challenges that come with loving someone with a spinal cord injury. Elena and Brooke tirelessly advocate and reach out, with long-term dreams of establishing a non-profit to support inter-abled relationships, boosting mental, emotional, and physical well-being awareness, and funding special trips for deserving couples.
Join Louise in an eye opening conversation with two very special advocates for those who are injured, but specifically for their caretakers and loved ones. Be reminded How deep emotions promote change and hear about the advocacy work of caregiver pay.
